Kawasaki rider Daniel Reardon has continued the fantastic
form which saw him crowned as Australian Supercross
Championship a few weeks ago, by completing a whitewash
at the second round of the Australian Motocross Championship.
The absence of Fear Honda’s Craig Anderson altered the mix
for the second round held in Penguin, Tasmania, and the event
kicked off for Reardon by posting the fastest qualifying time.
Following Reardon was No Fear Honda’s Cody Cooper in
second, Suzuki’s Daryl Hurley in third, Yamaha’s Ford Dale
in fourth and Cool Air’s Troy Carroll in fifth. Title contender
Cheyne Boyd from Yamaha who entered Round 2 in second
position overall, qualified thirteenth after breaking his lower
leg which is a disaster for Boyd and may see yet another
champion sidelined for the 2007 series. In the Pro-Open
Moto 1, Dan Reardon once again didn’t spend a moment
anywhere but in lead position. Getting a superb start which
gave him the holeshot, he lead from start to finish. Reardon
continues o make it look too easy. Towards the end of moto
one he had lapped all riders except for the top-10. As to
whether it feels as easy as it looks, Reardon said it’s harder to
push yourself when you’re not feeling threatened. “I wasn’t
extremely happy with moto one. When I’m out there I’m
being told my lap times and it’s them that i’m chasing,” he
said. “I’m not thinking championship. I’m out there to push
myself 100 percent and if I come off feeling I’ve achieved
that then I’m happy”. Speaking about the comparison between
rounds one and two, Reardon said: “The track last week was
hard but it was hard on everyone. My mechanic spend hours
and hours on my bike and I never have to do anything to it.”
