Saturday at Budds Creek (site of this year's Motocross
of Nations) had an interesting mix of who's in, who's out
(even if only temporarily), and who's fast.

In: Chad Reed, who's making his first appearance of the outdoor
season aboard his L&M Racing San Manuel Band of Mission
Indians Yamaha. Also in is Makita Suzuki's Ivan Tedesco, who
missed the first three rounds of the outdoor season after crashing
and suffering a concussion during training. Also in is a foreign
dignitary, Yoshitaka Atsuta, who brought over his Factory Honda.

Out: Well, it was just for the afternoon, but James Stewart sat
out Saturday's practice sessions, but will be in for Sunday's
racing action.

As for Saturday's timed practices, Makita Suzuki's Rick
Carmichael set a blistering pace for the rest of the Motocross-
class competitors to try and match, with nearly four seconds
over Kevin Windham and Chad Reed.

On the Lites side, it was series points leader Monster Energy
Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto atop the charts, just
over a half-second ahead of Boost Mobile Yamaha of Troy's Jason
Lawrence, and Josh Grant's Sobe No Fear Samsung Honda.
