Honda Pro Lite rider Lewis Stewart proved he has what it takes
by winning both motos at Mackay in what many have described
as a turning point in his career. "I can't believe it! The boys had
my CRF 250 running sweet; I claimed two holeshots and never
looked back," Stewart said. "The week in between Toowoomba
and Mackay worked well for me as we tested, rode and trained
hard to prepare. I can't believe the difference between flying,
resting and training properly and driving to a track when you
are tired." "The technical advice and support I got as a rider
for a factory team made a big difference. Troy (Dorron) was
great and my mechanic Darren did an awesome job. I am not
sure what's happening with Wonthaggi and for the rest of the
year, but I can say this experience has given me motivation to
work harder to get a better ride for next year," he added.
Peter Boyle also rode well to claim seventh overall on the day.
His consistent results have placed him back inside the top ten,
and he is looking forward to improving his position before the
series ends. "I rode well, but still need to be riding harder and
faster. There are some things I will change before Wonthaggi,
and I hope those changes will make a difference," Boyle
commented. "This has been a steep learning curve and after
only four years of racing, I am happy - but not content yet -
with where we are heading."
Unfortunately, Danny Anderson, who now sits third in the
Championship, did not have a great weekend. "I was looking
forward to this weekend. I felt confident, but everything seemed
to go bad. My starts weren't great and I crashed in the first moto.
Overall the weekend was extremely disappointing. I can only
look ahead and remain positive. Second overall is still within
reach."
Assisting Team Manger Troy Dorron, Team Owner Yarrive
Konsky and Honda Australia are all extremely pleased with
the weekend, and Stewart's results in particular. "Lewis rode
superbly and flawlessly. It was awesome to watch," Dorron said.
"Peter was consistent and earned some valuable points. Before
round eight at Wonthaggi, we need to work with Danny on some
sand tracks. I know he has the ability; we just need to give him
some better opportunities to ride sand and prepare for the next
couple of rounds." The team will next compete in the Australian
Motocross Championships on Sunday, 22nd July, 2007 at
Wonthaggi, VIC.
