Chad Reed 2nd at Detroit Supercross behind James Stewart -ozzy go- TransworldMX

Australian Supercross star Chad Reed has fought back from a
shocking start to the Main Event at Round 14 of the Amp'd Mobile
AMA Supercross Series at Ford Field, Detroit tonight to maintain
his impeccable podium performance.

After posting the fifth fastest time in the early afternoon practice
Reed’s L&M/San Manuel/Yamaha team made a number of
changes to his Yamaha YZ450F before his all important Heat
race.

Reed finished the 8-lap Heat a strong second placing behind
Championship leader James Stewart and was rewarded with a
top five gate pick.

Wheel spin off the start line in the 20-Lap Main Event left the
Australian rider to fight back from mid pack, which was no mean
feat on the extremely fast Detroit track.

By Lap 8 of the race Reed had worked his way into third place
and on Lap 14 he secured second. With only six laps remaining
Reed worked hard to close the gap to Championship and race
leader James Stewart but ran out of time to challenge for first
place.

Admitting that he struggled a bit all weekend Reed said he was
happy to come away with his podium record intact.

“I didn’t pick the best gate tonight and spun too much coming off
the line which put me way back in the pack,” said Reed.

“Even though I was a bit off tonight it was a really good track to
go fast on and I made my moves through Turn 6 which really
seemed to work for me.”

“We didn’t give up tonight even when we were looking like
missing the podium. I am still pumped and you never-say-
never,” Reed commented

Reed, who is currently second in the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA
Supercross Championship with 297 points will compete at the
penultimate round of the Series which will be held at the Qwest
Field in Seattle, Washington on Saturday 28th April.
