Cheyne Boyd seeks out the best for ankle operation
Cheyne Boyd has sought medical advice from Orthopedic specialist,
Dr Peter Larkin following Sunday’s unfortunate practice incident
at the second round the Nokia Motocross Nationals in Tasmania,
which left the CDR/ Nokia/Yamaha rider with spiral fractures to
his ankle. Larkin is renowned for his work with Australia’s leading
AFL players and has previously worked on Boyd in 2005 when he
badly injured his shoulder mid season. In consultation with ankle
specialist Dr Tim Schneider, Larkin has opted to operate at lunchtime
on Thursday 26th April to pin and plate the ankle immediately.
From there both specialists are confident of a recovery time of six
weeks before Boyd can resume riding his CDR/Nokia/Yamaha YZ450F.
Relieved to have a recovery plan in place Boyd said he was determined
to back on the bike as soon as possible. “I am very fortunate to have
a long standing relationship with Dr Larkin who has previously helped
me through injury,” said Boyd. “It is through this relationship that I
have gained access to one of the best ankle specialists in the country
and they have both assured me that this is a very straight forward
operation.” “I am now just looking to the future and recuperating as
quickly as possible to get back on the track and give Daniel some
competition before the season is out,” Boyd added. It has been a
bittersweet week for Team Principal Craig Dack who while pondering
the loss of Boyd received the good news that Matt Moss has the all
clear from medial experts... click on "ozzy go" to the full story
