Reed second in Championship finale - Motorcycle Australia

After enduring a frustrating season hampered by injury, Australia’s World Supercross star Chad Reed has closed the curtains on his 2007 FIM World Supercross Grand Prix and Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross seasons with a strong second placing at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas tonight. Reed, who secured the runner-up spot in both championships at the penultimate round of the series, was looking to end his troubled season with a solid result. After a convincing win in his heat race Reed and 2007 Champion James Stewart went head-to-head off the start line in the 20-lap Main Event. The duo quickly pulled away from the field and endured a healthy battle in the opening laps before Stewart gained the advantage. While Stewart won the finale, Reed notched up his 17th podium of the year and said his team would be working hard over the off season to bridge the gap to the current Champion. “That was good fun out there,” said Reed. “I had a good battle going with James in the first part of the race. “Despite the hurdles we faced this year we were still able to finish second in both championships and I am not disappointed with second tonight.” “We will start preparing for X-Games and I will have a couple of weeks back home in Australia before we really get to work over the off season.” “The whole team is committed to working hard to try and achieve the winning combination and that is what we will do,” Reed added. After a short break in which Reed will catch up with friends and family in Australia he will be back on the bike preparing for the X-Games which will be held August 2-5.
