France and the seventh round of fifteen of the FIM MX2 World
Championship.
South Africa’s top motocross athlete gained results of third in
both motos watched by a bustling 28,000 crowd on France’s
west coast. Once again the 21 year old was forced to watch
main rivals Antonio Cairoli (who won the GP) and Christophe
Pourcel dispute victory ahead of him.
Rattray, competing at the venue where he won his maiden
Grand Prix moto in 2004 (and second career overall Grand
Prix success), was determined to finally capture his first
garland of 2007 but his self-confessed lack of ruthlessness
in the opening laps is still costing him dear in what is an
extremely competitive and difficult championship.
St Jean presented a flat, short and fast test with close lap-
times and even more emphasis placed on the starts if riders
wanted to be in with the chance of a podium. The surface
offered a markedly different prospect compared to the
technical bumps and ruts of Japan two weeks earlier...
