Gareth Swanepoel makes the best at St Jean -ozzy go- swanie.co.za

Sweltering weather conditions and a 28.000 strong partisan
crowd have seen Molson Kawasaki rider, Gareth Swanepoel,
battle the fast and hard St Jean d’Angely circuit at the French
motocross GP.

‘Swanie’ grabbed a great start in moto 1 and emerged second
behind championship leader Antonio Cairoli. He could not find
his race rhythm and was relegated to fourth by Pascal Leuret
and Italian Bonini. A challenge with crowd favourite Christophe
Pourcel saw Swanepoel go down in the infamous sand section.
Swanepoel rejoined the pack in 14th and set about clawing his
way back up the points table. With a lap to go he snuck past
fellow Molson Kawasaki team- mate Tom Church to salvage 9th
place at the end of a grueling 35 minutes + 2 laps.

With the track having been watered during intermission, riders
were cautious on the opening laps of the second MX2 moto.
Swanepoel tried to slot in behind fellow South African Tyla
Rattray, as they both moved up the ladder from mediocre starts
to occupy 4th and 5th respectively. A mid moto challenge from
